Mathis Flooring was started by Vernon Mathis in 1978 in the front of a barber shop. Vernon began his career as a barber and after cutting hair during the day started installing floors during the evening on the side. He had both businesses inside his shop on North Hanover in Lexington. Soon the flooring store demanded more of his time and that was the beginning of a successful business that continues to this day. Vernon always puts the customer first and treats them with fairness and honesty. His son David took over the business in 2009. He along with his wife Reneé have continued to strive for the same principals passed down by Vernon. David always goes above and beyond for each customer. Vernon continues to work every day and customers still ask for him by name. Mathis Flooring is so fortunate to have a great client base and lots of repeat customers.
